Woodsure Ready To Burn Firewood

Our UK Certified Woodsure firewood is specially prepared to give you the best possible burn in your log burner or open fire. Each log is kiln-dried and certified to 20% moisture content or less, ensuring a cleaner, hotter and more efficient burn. This means less smoke, less soot, and reduced creosote build-up in your flue — helping to keep your stove running safely and efficiently. With a higher heat output and longer burn time compared to unseasoned wood, our firewood not only keeps your home warmer, but also helps you use fewer logs. When you choose Woodsure certified, you’re choosing quality you can trust and heat you’ll feel.

We are “ready to burn” certified

The Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) appointed HETAS and Woodsure to run the Ready to Burn fuel certification scheme.

The scheme makes it easy for people to find the cleanest fuels for burning at home. Using fuels that are approved and labelled as Ready to Burn also means it’s easy to comply with Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020 that outlaw the sale of wet wood and housecoal, which are the most polluting fuels.

Firewood Bulk Bag

Choosing kiln dried firewood for your stove

Our logs are hardwood, cut from oak and ash, and kiln dried to below 20% moisture before they are bagged. Hardwood is denser than softwood, so each log burns for longer and gives out more heat, which is why it is the usual choice for wood burners and open fires. Dry wood also lights more easily and leaves less tar in the flue, which keeps the glass on a stove cleaner and reduces how often the chimney needs sweeping.

We are based near Kettering, Northamptonshire, and deliver locally by arrangement. Choose the size of bag that suits you: nets of logs for a few evenings, or a bulk bag if you want to stock up for the season. Kindling is available on the same delivery.

Firewood FAQs

What does Ready to Burn mean?

Ready to Burn is the Woodsure certification scheme, run for DEFRA, for fuels with a moisture content of 20% or less. Since 2020 wet wood cannot legally be sold in small volumes in England, so the Ready to Burn label is the simple way to know a fuel is legal and clean burning.

How much firewood do I need?

A net of logs will usually cover one or two evenings on a typical stove. A bulk bag of around 0.65 cubic metres is enough for regular use over several weeks, depending on how often the stove is lit and how long it runs.

How should I store the logs?

Keep them off the ground and under cover, with air able to move around them. A log store, a covered corner of a garage or a shed all work. Bring a basketful indoors a day or so before burning so the logs are at room temperature.

Yes. Delivery is free on orders over £80, or £10 otherwise, within our local delivery area, usually within 5 working days. We will confirm the delivery date by phone or text, and can deliver on a requested date where possible.
